A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
The Science Education Alliance (SEA) represents an innovative way by which the Howard Hughes Medical Institute can significantly impact science education across the education continuum. It creates the opportunity to bring leading scientists and educators together to develop, implement, and/or disseminate vetted and novel methods, technologies, and practices that can broaden scientific understanding and participation.

At the center of it all is the alliance, a group of networked individuals and institutions committed to scientific advancement and science education, who realize that the two are inextricably tied together. As such, they are committed to help each other and to be helped by others in the pursuit of preparing 21st-century scientists for leadership and our citizens for broad scientific understanding.

SEA will offer an energetic and dynamic environment headquartered at HHMI's Janelia Farm Research Campus and staffed by trained scientists dedicated to education. Workshops, short courses, institutes, and symposia are held to train educators in the newest innovations in science education; visionaries discuss where science is headed and what needs to be accomplished in order to prepare students to be successful in the field. The SEA creates a place where teams can come to develop new methods or techniques to relate scientific concepts or modify existing ones; a place where an individual can spend a sabbatical reflecting and writing on topics related to science and science education.

Please join us for an exciting and rewarding journey.
